Progress was the word of the day Monday, May 10th. Emshoff was back out to continue digging and running water/sewer/drain lines, etc. We last told you about the need for a sump pump. Well - the stars must have aligned because we no longer need one! They figured out we would able to run pipe through the back yard and let gravity take care of the rest.
On another good note - we are able to receive almost 20 full loads of fresh dirt/clay from another project in nearby Solon! All of the dirt was delivered and Emshoff spent most of the day spreading it. As you can see from the pictures the dirt went a long way. We elevated the area where the garage will be a full 12 inches. In addition, they spread / rolled dirt where the driveway will be.
Finally - Al's two prize possessions - his pear trees actually will survive and produce another round of pears! At first we did not think they would make it much longer as they were in the way of the driveway. However, Emshoff was able to dig them out of the ground and transplant them along the property line.
All in all a very good day. Weather permitting they will be back out this week to dig the basement!
