Monday, June 28th

On and off rain held off the roofers. So the back half of the roof still needs to be finished.
Big Al was able to get some interior work done though! He built the wall for the island in our kitchen to attach to!
And he built the base for our jacuzzi tub!

Shingles!

It was hard to get any good pictures due to the sun glare, but Thaxton Roofing is making major progress on our roof.
According to Sue B. there have been about six guys working on our shingles. Because of the pitch and steepness of our roof, shingle application is a bit difficult!
It is looking good so far. Hopefully they will finish up by the beginning of next week.

As for Big Al, I have instructed him to go to Port Clinton for the weekend. He was quite difficult at first (imagine that) and didn't want to listen to me, but I eventually won! He departs this evening for a weekend of fishing with my "Little" brother, and some much needed R & R!

The bay window is complete! Hoping the rain holds off, Thaxton Roofing should be back today to get going on our roof!
^Good work Padge!

It's All Coming Together!

Between Sunday, June 20th and Monday, June 21st, the front porch and roof were completed. The most difficult task was putting the plywood in place at the highest point on the sides of our house.
Spice and Mr. P came by to lend a hand. And Mike Ruth stopped over at the end so he could put the last nail in place!
Tuesday night Big Al began construction of the Bay Window!
It looks beautiful!
Shingles have been delivered and they are scheduled to begin installation on Wednesday, June 23rd.

Just Your Average Saturday!

Saturday, June 19th: Today's task was the front porch. Scotty was back on site with Big Al and Rob. Some greatly appreciated additional help was added by Mr. Rob and Garrett (The Chosen One).
And we even had a celebrity appearance by the one and only Bradford Delsky!
Thanks for all the great, hard work today boys!

A roof!

Most of the roof was put up today with the help of Mike Ruth, Anthony, Bingo and Scotty.

Uncle Eddie to the Rescue!

With the roof underway, we had a ton of plywood that needed to be relocated from the ground, to the top of the house. Luckily Uncle Eddie (from my mom's side :o) ) showed up with his crane and they were able to haul all of the plywood up to the roof for us!
^Spicer was an animal out there.
^ Mike Ruth has proven to be quite an asset on this project!
^Someone has to keep Big Al in line!
^In his spare time he performs in Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas!
I'd call this PROGRESS!

RECENT ADDITIONS TO THE TEAM:
  • Uncle Raymond
  • Scotty
Definition: Solon FD's Finest - Sager, Prelock, Ruth, Nemeth, Eisenhuth, Toth, Shimits,
and of course Big Al Benedict!

Wednesday, June 9th

Due to a visit from Johnny-Raincloud, today's endeavours began a few hours later than expected. However, we did have three new additions to the team: Anthony (who is on loan to us from sunny Florida), BINGO (who is on loan to us from the Annex), and Young Eddie Delsky (who is on loan to us from Linda)! With the help of these three young whipper-snappers, all of the first floor interior walls were completed and set in place, and the beginning of the second floor was underway!

Tuesday, June 8th

Today the remaining outer walls on the first floor were assembled and raised in to place.
The guys were also able to start putting together a majority of the interior walls. The master bedroom, master bath and closet have all been sectioned off. The mud room, powder room, and great room have also been sectioned off as well.

There is rain in the forecast for Wednesday...hopefully it will clear up so we keep moving forward!

Monday, June 7th

Come Monday we had some more man power! The guys spent the day laying the floor deck and putting together what would be our front and back walls.
After the entire floor was attached, one at a time, the walls were assembled and then raised in to place.
By the end of the day we had two walls! Good work men! Hopefully tomorrow will bring two more...and then some!

Favorite Neighbor Ed and Super Spicer!

After the rain cleared we made major progress. Ed and Spicer graciously volunteered their valuable time and joined Big Al, Albert and Rob in installing the floor joists.
Minor setback during the process...We realized one of the steal beams was a bit too long, therefore Padge had to show us how even more talented he is, and using a blow torch and a saw, cut about 4 inches off of the steal beam.
Once the steal beam was cut, the floor joists were measured, cut, and put in place. Albert and Rob did most of the heavy lifting, Favorite-Neighbor-Ed manned the saw, and Super Spicer and the Padge measured and fastened the joists in place.
Thanks to the added extra help of Albert, Ed and Spicer, we were quite satisfied when Sunday came to an end!
