The dynamic duo of Uncle Raymond and Big Al have been tag teaming the siding on the house and the garage.
^ Scary, isn't it??

All of the insulation for the house and garage is in place. We can start to see now how big each room is actually going to be!

Emshoff brought some dirt in and started to level out the front yard.

We are set to start drywalling next week!

Sunday, July 18th

Yesterday Rob and I met with Jason from Patriot Security to discuss the security system for our house. They will hopefully be out Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week to get it installed. Today Big Al began to prepare the house for siding. All the siding has been delivered and is scheduled for installation this week with the help of Uncle Ray and Uncle Bill. A small portion of the siding has been put in to place, and it already looks great!
Also today, Rob installed cement board on the inside of the chimney. Now the guys from Mason can come back and get our chimney unit in. While Rob and my Dad were busy, I took on the challenge of installing all of the Ethernet cable and surround sound speaker wire. I am giving myself two pats on the back!

Friday, July 16th

Things were kind of slow this week. Plumbing, electric and sheet metal are done for now. Mason Steel will be back next week to finish preparing and installing the chimney. The basement floor was poured as well.

This is the view of the garage from the backyard. We incorporated a second smaller garage door for Rob to get his lawn mower (which we don't own yet) out!

Wednesday, July 14th

Today the guys from Mason Structural Steel delivered our fireplace unit. It is called the "Montecito", and it has french doors on the front!
This is the faceplate the will go around the front doors of the unit.

The guys from Mason also began to install the inside components of the chimney.
After a visit from the building inspectors, the Mason crew was informed that they will have to take out what they have already put in today and redo it. Hopefully they will be back tomorrow to put the inside of the chimney together correctly and get our fireplace in place.

Friday, July 9th.

Today was a big day! The electrician and his 6-man crew were onsite all day working hard. The roofers came for the first half of the day and put the shingles on the garage. As soon as the roofers pulled out, the cement guy pulled in. The garage floor was in place by the end of the day. They will be back on Monday to pour the basement. Ginny from Cabincraft also came out today to take measurements for our cabinets.
This is the image she sent us of what our kitchen will look like.

Friday is expected to be a busy day. The roofers are supposed to be back out to finish the roof area around the chimney, and to put the roof on the garage. The electrician and his crew will be out today to get a majority of their work done. The garage floor in supposed to be poured today. And Ginny from Cabincraft will be out to take measurements for the kitchen and bath cabinets.

Update

Here's the latest update:
Shingles are on and the roof is almost complete. Thaxton Roofing will be back once the chimney is finished to complete the roof.
Paramount Plumbing has been out installing the plumbing. There are pipes everywhere! The little wall in the above picture is going to be apart of our island in the kitchen.
Soffets have also been constructed and put in place. (may have spelled soffet wrong?)
Big Al built the base for our bath tub!
This is the back wall where the chimney will be. The stone for the chimney will go all the way up to the ceiling.
This is the view from the loft on the second floor.
Tub/shower unit for the upstairs bath. This had to be put in already because it will be built in to the drywall. A bunch of strong men came over to help get it up to the second floor as we do not have steps yet.
And this is a close up of the shingles! There are supposed to be specks of green and brown and tan in them. The color will be more visible once the siding is up next to it.
